Volunteer Teacher

As there is no International, English speaking school in the province of Phang Nga, Eaglesrest Foundation is seeking a qualified teacher to take on the responsibility of the education of the children of the non- Thai staff and volunteer families.

This is a full time position to be seen on a missionary status. The teacher will be required to meet the educational needs of children from age 5 up to High School. A normal school week and term breaks will be adhered to which will provide for all annual leave.

Although we are willing to consider short term placements of three months or more, it is hoped that the teacher will commit to a minimum of two years with the opportunity to extend.

The successful teacher will be entitled to the status of volunteer and provided with a work permit and visa for the duration of their stay with Eaglesrest Foundation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for their own travel expenses, visa and work permit fees and medical insurance etc. Some meals will be provided.

Personal qualities:

  • Committed Christian with a recognized qualification in education.
  • Patient and firm when working with children. Able to maintain order and impart knowledge across all ages from 5 to 16 years in a creative fun environment.
  • Time management and organizational skills as per classroom requirements
  • Able to communicate well to students and their parents
  • Candidate should submit a personal reference from the Pastor of their home church

Duties:  

  • Supervise and instruct English speaking children of staff and volunteers in their academic studies.
  •  Provide moral and godly guidance as needed to the students as they work through the life issues that will come through their work day
  • Model patience and integrity in all dealings with the students and maintain throughout your time in Thailand so that no reproach will come upon Eagles Rest or it's ministry
  • Set a standard of discipline and accountability for all the students and maintain order and respect in the classroom and in any interactions (eg field trips) outside of the classroom
  • Maintain a high standard of integrity with the Thai and other Asian cultures we are ministering to
  • To maintain adequate academic and attendance records for all students and written reports of progress at agreed intervals. Report cards should identify both academic and character development.
  • Order and process student's work books and other school supplies. Maintain adequate records of expenditure.
  • Schedule and successfully implement regular field trips and parent involved activities including parent/teacher interviews at least twice a year.  

Accountability:

The teacher will be held accountable to the Directors and Board members of Eaglesrest Foundation as well as the sending Church body in their usual country of residence Responsibility to the accountant for the accurate recording and reporting of all finances in respect to the educational budget guidelines.

Time line:

We seek to fill this position from January 2010 or as soon after that time as a suitable teacher can be obtained. This position is for a minimum two year commitment with the option to extend.


Kitchen Manager\Head Cook

Eagles Rest expects to be taking in local pastors and families using our temporary residences, with many meals to prepare.. Would you like to be a part of the development of this vital ministry?

It is hoped that the successful applicant will be an early part of the team and able to give professional input into the construction of the kitchen facilities as they become reality. For that reason a two year commitment is sought if at all possible.

The Eagles Rest Foundation is situated in temporary buildings until the buildings project can commence. Would you like to be part of the development of this vital ministry?

Qualification guidelines:

  • Food preparation/service/budgeting recognized certificate or degree. Practical experience an advantage.
  • Please provide a reference from your Pastor and any other Spiritual mentor.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for their own travel expenses, visa fees and medical insurance etc.

Personal requirements:

  • Personal faith and commitment to God (Ask for our statement of Faith and the Mission Statement of Eagles Rest).
  • Ability to raise personal support. This is not a salary position.
  • Candidates should submit a personal reference from the Pastor of their home church
  •  Ability to serve six or sixty as required.
  • Familiarity with western and Asian meals or ability and willingness to learn.
  • Understanding of food allergies and alternative choices.
  • Model patience and integrity in all dealings with the staff and volunteers and maintain throughout your time in Thailand so that no reproach will come upon Eaglesrest or it's ministry.
  • Maintain a high standard of integrity with the Thai and other Asian cultures we are ministering to.

Duties:

  • Position requires person to be on duty Mon-Fri (5 days)
  •  Prepare budgets for adequate, efficient running of the Retreat Food Center
  • Manage and schedule Asian staff and volunteers with minimum of conflict
  • Maintain hygiene, cleanliness standards in all food preparation and service areas
  • Marketing in an Asian context
  • Preparing nutritionally sound weekly meal plans

The Kitchen Manager will be held accountable to the Directors and Board Members of Eaglesrest Foundation as well as the sending Church body in their usual country of residence.

Responsibility to the accountant for the accurate recording and reporting of all finances in respect to the Food Center budget guidelines.
