Dear Friend,
| PITH (Partners in the Harvest) MISSION CONFERENCE |
|
Janene attended this intensive
three and half day conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at the
beginning of May. It was fourteen hour days packed with mission
reports/networking/keynote speakers and workshops. Over 370 delegates
from 20 different nations enjoyed wonderful teaching, encouragement
and fellowship. A special youth program saw almost 500 young
people challenged to step out in faith and consider short term
mission experience.
Janene was able to share the
vision of Eaglesrest in a short presentation which resulted in
many new prayer partners and others interested in becoming involved.
Thank you to the Brethren Assemblies in Malaysia for their invitation
to attend. It was a wonderful example of the spirit of unity
and prayer. The result was much glory to the work of God in countries
as widespread as Papua New Guinea and Kazakhstan.

Jamie is a Malaysian friend we have known for a few years. The
PITH conference gave us a wonderful chance to catch up.

GOD'S PROVISION
During the time Janene was in Malaysia she was handed an envelope
anonymously. The only instruction was that the contents were
to be used for the children's needs. The money was exchanged
on return to Thailand and two days later we had to have three
of the children seen by doctors for various medical conditions.
As usual our funds were tight and yet the gift given in Malaysia
a few days before was EXACTLY the right amount to cover all the
expenses incurred that day. Thank you goes to God for those who
were used by Him to make this all possible.
One of the medical procedures
was Stephanie needing a growth cut out of her tongue. As her
(first) mother died of oral cancer, this was understandably a
great concern. However, after a week of waiting for pathology
results we can happily tell you that the growth was benign. She
does have a virus which will continue to cause similar growths
unless we can build up her immunity. Thanks to all those who
pray for the children regularly.

Gordon Koenig (Germany) came to us through
partnership with OMF's serve Asia program. |
|
OMF VOLUNTEER FROM GERMANY
WE are very happy to have Gordon Koenig with us for a few months
through OMF's 'Serve Asia' program. Gordon has also recently
served with OM on the Doulos ship stationed in The Philippines
and plans to rejoin the ship in Bangkok for a year after his
time at Eaglesrest. Gordon will be of great assistance with the
many day to day maintenance projects that need to be completed
around the church and Eaglesrest site. |
VISA AND FOUNDATION SITUATION
The foundation papers are still in process. Once they leave the
local government office they have to journey through two more
levels of government and finally to the desk of the Governor
of the Province. He will give the final stamp. Officially we
are told this will all take another month. From experience we
say, "Don't hold your breath!" Please keep praying
that God will move things supernaturally and we will finally
be through this drawn out stage.
As our visas expire June 7th we will have flown out to KL Malaysia
by the time this letter reaches you. It is a requirement that
we all leave the country and reapply for a visa to return to
the work here. As Rommel has completed three years with ACF (Asia
Center Foundation) as a volunteer, another foundation has taken
us on in a temporary measure to enable us to gain suitable visas.
This will allow us the necessary time to see Eaglesrest fully
registered. When that happens we will apply for work permits
(and thus one year visas) through our own foundation. This has
been a busy time but God is ultimately in control and He will
be glorified as all these things come to pass. |

The two young women supervised the children's home school while
Janene attended the mission conference in Malaysia. |

LANGUAGE
STUDY
Mid June Rommel is hoping to travel by motor bike to Lopburi,
just north of Bangkok, to attend one week of preliminary lessons
in learning to read and write the Thai script. The venue is the
OMF (Oversees Missionary Fellowship) language centre which has
a wonderful reputation as one of the best language centres in
Thailand. Next month we will let you know how it all went.
NEEDED...
Volunteers needed for short term visits for help with small projects
as well as large. If you have experience and training or not,
