NOVEMBER
2009
Dear Friend,
In October we celebrated
the safe arrival of grandchild number four - Chloe was born healthy
and beautiful. She makes a wonderful little sister for Harrison.
Praise God for sweet reminders of His power of creation.
THE
RETURN OF THE MV DOULOS!
In the second half of November the ship - MV Doulos is making
its final journey to Phuket for a ten day stay. We have managed
to secure an International team for part of that time and will
be hosting them in the Eaglesrest rooms and guest house. While
with us the team will have a day of ministry at one of the local
primary schools, participate in further work projects around
the buildings, and conduct some English classes for the local
people. We are very grateful for their assistance and look forward
to that time of sharing the ministry.

The Jelee family from Myanmar. The parents
have been referred for time at Eaglesrest. We are in the process
of arranging travel documents to bring them for 2 weeks as soon
as possible. |

MYANMAR GUESTS
We have received a referral form from a pastor in Myanmar who
met Janene in Malaysia during the PITH mission conference early
this year. The pastor has highlighted a need for a particular
Burmese couple to come to Eaglesrest for a two week break as
soon as it can be arranged. This couple serves in a very poor
community. They have four children of their own as well as providing
for two young women who converted to Christianity and so are
no longer supported by their own families. |
Although
the family's financial needs are many, these will no doubt continue
long term as they struggle to survive on the minimum offerings
of their congregation. However, by providing the couple time
to rest and be refreshed, we know that they will be spiritually
refilled and able to return to their people and family the richer
for the experience.
While I (Janene) was in Bangkok during October I was able to
meet with another Burmese pastor there. Pastor Pa Ni Maung has
been serving his people in Bangkok for 12 or so years and we
are thrilled that he has committed to assisting us in the process
of bringing out this couple. He also expressed interest in long
term involvement and networking among other Burmese congregations
in Thailand. His help will be invaluable as we proceed. We praise
God for another door opening and the many "team members"
who join us along the path (although not necessarily on site).
As we have been told how difficult it is for any citizens of
Myanmar to obtain travel documents to leave the country, we ask
that you join us in prayer against the corruption they may encounter
and any other blockages Satan would try to put in their path.
National elections in the early part of 2010 will cause restrictions
to increase so timing is vital. |
WORK PROJECTS ARE COMPLETED
During October Rommel and Kingsley replaced most of the roof
tiles on the schoolroom/office building with the help of Pastor
Prakop. It was also necessary to replace large sections of the
interior ceiling due to water damage from the leaking roof. Other
projects that month included much carpentry resulting in a new
linen cabinet for the Eaglesrest supplies; a large book shelf
for the schoolroom; a powered work bench to make these projects
easier on the back; and, shelving in one guest room. |
|

Now that the wet season has finished, Rommel,
Kingsley and Pastor Prakop were able to start work on repairing
the roof of the office/schoolroom. The ceiling inside was also
badly water damaged.
|
It
was a busy month resulting in many accomplishments to make life
a little easier for all who use Eaglesrest rooms and services.
It often seems to us that as soon as we complete something from
the "to do" list, another three things jump on the
end of the list. We guarantee there is always something for volunteers
to keep occupied!
CHRISTMAS
PLANS
Janene's mum will once again be joining us from late November
until early February. It will be lovely to have Christmas with
her here in Thailand again.
Grace and Kingsley Dickens will be leaving us in early December
and it will be sad to see them go. The children have all been
enjoying their school days and Rommel has loved sharing the work
load with such a capable workman as Kingsley has proven to be.
We do pray that they will be able to visit with us again in the
future. |

Hayden family - coming from Hawaii in December
for special programs with the locals. |
|
Soon after the Dickins move to the north for
further ministry, we will be joined by another family. The Hayden
family (Hawaii) is including us in their time in Thailand while
visiting a sponsored child.
We have packed their short stay with special blessing for the
local people. This will include a day of school ministry and
a special HAWAIIAN CHRISTMAS program for local children.
|
|
Also our own children have
been asked to perform the Nativity play again this year at the
Primary school. This will require many rehearsals and coordinating
with the school children involved. Pray that the presentation
will plant seed in many young hearts.
